i took four planes and not one of them crashed! // 2002-09-23

goddamn, it's nice to be home.

things europe has over the us:

  • chocolate croissants
  • tiny cars
  • narrow streets
  • walking
  • canals
  • trains
  • crazy-narrow stairs
  • hosher nutella
  • bicycles
  • tintin
  • little kids speaking french/german/dutch

things the us has over europe:

  • big breakfasts in the morning
  • smoke-free restaurants
  • smoke-free airports
  • smoke-free anything
  • regulation-sized stairs that you won't fall down
  • people speaking a language i know
  • seattle, the bestest city in the world

of course, i should say more about my trip, but i'm too exhausted to try harder than this. i'll muster up some energy at some point and post a riveting overview. for reals.

yesterday i woke at 4 am (c was up at 1 am). we lay i bed and talked until the sun came up. big topic of discussion: where does the weight go when you lose it? do you simply poop it out? does it disappear into the air? is it a chemical reaction (like the reaction caused by burning something, where the carbon combines with oxygen and turns into carbon dioxide)? we were stumped. if anyone knows the answer, let me know.

i felt the need to create things all yesterday, so i painted my toenails dark red, painted my lips glossy pink, drew a picture of myself fresh out of the bath and wrapped in a towel, and baked chocolate chip cookies.
