the fair // 2004-09-18

i just got back from the fair with anika, and it was even better than i imagined. we did some of the best things in the whole world:

• ate funnel cakes and hot scones
• watched the judging of a 4H pygmy goat show
• saw a wool spinning demonstration and actually got to try carding wool
• saw llamas, cows, sheep, rabbits, and a litter of baby pigs (piglets!)
• briefly watched a clogging show
• browsed through the pickling, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and baking pavilion
• and the best thing ever? we watched little chicks hatching out of their shells! yes, actually hatching in front of our eyes. it was more spectacular and fascinating than pretty much anything i've ever seen.
