hi-diddly-ho neighborinos // 2005-06-23

this morning i went to our new house and did some kind of walk through with the current owner and also took some measurements. it was slightly intimidating but very informative. near the end of the visit, the owner started talking about how all the neighbors were curious about the new owners, because, apparently, the couple we were bidding against had gone around to all the neighbors and introduced themselves, given them gifts, and showed off their adorable child. so the neighbors were all clamoring for a sweet couple with baby. uh, yeah, we're not quite that couple. i guess the pressure is now on for us to have a child (a cute one, mind you!) and to host christmas parties and ladies brunches and outdoor movie parties (i kid you not) or something like that. ack! can't we just hole up with the curtains drawn and play board games and drink tea? in peace? i'm very much into being neighborly, but this is way too much pressure.
