fruit fly // 2004-08-23

we have a serious fruit fly problem growing in our kitchen. it was just a few a couple of weeks ago, probably the fault of a couple of tomatoes i left out in a bowl for too long. but i tossed those! and i've been making an honest effort to keep the kitchen clean lately? yesterday morning it was bad, and we went out for breakfast, and when we returned a couple of hours later it was, like, a thousand times worse.

we set up some homemade traps with vinegar and bananas as bait, which was exciting at first because you could watch all the fruit flies fly into them and not be able to get out. but now it's really disturbing and gross, and i'm worried that their going to get suspicious and figure things out and go on the offensive. i don't want to be attacked by an angry swarm of fruit flies. for real.

and, of course, i'm worried about where their nest is, where these new baby fruit flies are coming from, because it's quite obvious that's how their multiplying fast. please, oh please, don't let it be anywhere too gross!

if i don't write for a while, that means the fruit flies have gotten me.
